History, American Style

I like the darker side of history, people uprising in the face of oppression, anarchists plotting their revolutions, and exiled Napoleons on St. Helena are what get me excited.  I'm fascinated by the lengths people go to in order to effect change in a world or situation they think is insufferable (no matter how skewed their view may be) and how their exploits affect our lives and the course of the history that is made as a result of those exploits.  I want to get in their heads and figure them out; what pushes a man to pull the trigger on a president?

That's some pretty heavy shit, but it's the kind of thing that gets me excited, so I'm painting it via a series of small watercolor paintings where I put my brush and pencil to the devices used by the guys that pulled the trigger and successfully (though sometimes not) put an end to the devil of their ideology.
